New to the site but wanted to share my fold down brush guard I made for my G1900 HST. I searched all over the web for a rush guard that fit my tractor and couldn’t find anything or threads about one that folds and is the same height as the hood. I’m not a fabricator/welder by any means but threw this together in a weekend.
Materials Used:
- Toggle clamps (From Harbor Freight)
- 2” Flat Bar
- 4” Flat Bar
- 1” Tube Steel
- Bolts, Washers, & Lock Nuts
- Red Primer (Rattle Can)
- Kubota Orange “Majic” Brand (Rattle Can)
- Dark Gray (Rattle Can)
- Clear Gloss (Rattle Can)
I would estimate that I spent about $100 USD in materials. Also don’t have much specialty fab tools. My welder is a cheap HF flux that runs on 110v. I shaped the steel by heating, bending, and test fitting (a lot of test fitting). Used a basic angle grinder and my beloved Milwaukee Fuel set for drilling and wire brushing. I wanted to bolt the toggle clamps to the frame vs welding them but that wasn’t possible due to battery location and fear of putting a hole in it. I used an existing hole on the lower front of the frame to bolt the brush guard on. The toggle clamps are toward the rear of the brush guard and when you release them it allows the guard to fold down and allowing the hood to be raised. If there’s any interest from anyone wanting to build one similar then I can take measurements and post them. Someone more experienced and with the proper tools could do a much nicer job.
