Hi, im looking to to replace my fusible link in my B8200 (that i have recently purchased),
I started it at the weekend and it has burnt out. I have found what I belive to be the issue the working loom has rubbed against the frame shorting a few cables together, so will be rewiring that shortly (if anyone knows the wire sizes would be appreciated, looks from the wiring diagram to be mainly headlights and dynamo).
But my main question is I have read you can replace the fusible link with a standard fuse? Does any body no what size it requires and if its just a standard fuse? I would normally just replace it like for like but the plug has melted with it.
Thanks

In line fuse holder of 30 amps would work just fine.

I would flux, solder and shrink wrap the raw ends too.

I have a chart shown below that show the amperage rating v. color for fusible links. I ASSUME that it applies to your tractor.

i would just use the same amperage fuse or breaker in place of the fusible link. Assuming you can determine the color!

I’ve had a couple pkgs of those fuse holders….and do not recommend them …as they overheat and burn out at current-levels below the fuse-ratings…. due to dissimilar metals and poor crimp-connections inside the fuse receptacle.
I had rec’d a pkg of 6 of them…and one after the other… they failed.

So I ordered similar from a different maker…. and same result.

Back around 1995 the OEM fusible link on my B7200 blew out. I replaced it with an inline ATC/ATO (40A??) fuse and holder like the one @85Hokie suggested and it has been trouble free. I have used them for addon circuits on other things including my truck and the current L3901 with the same result.

I don’t really understand the need for "fusable links”….Must be some sort of “Bean Counter Vs. Egg Head” war, or something like that.

I would have no trouble swapping the FL out for an inline fuse as suggested above. (y) (y)

Fusible links are slow blow devices. For equivalent protection make sure you use a slow blow fuse.

Most ATC/ATO fuses are fast acting. MAXI fuses from Littlefuse are a slow blow type. They do not interchange with ATC/ATO fuses.

Kubota uses these rather than a fusible link on the G series mowers
