Functioning BX2680 w/ Dead Lights & Instruments?

Relatively new owner of a BX2680 (~15 hours) and I've found myself in a predicament: amidst trying to wire up a sprayer to the 12V circuit wrapped in blue tape on the back of the tractor, I've managed to somehow kill the entire instrument panel and lights?

Here's what happened:

1. I plugged in my sprayer to the key-enabled wire (and I think accidentally brushed the always-hot one against the frame which sparked and I'm guessing blew something but I've yet to figure out what).
2. I started the sprayer and it began to draw current for a decent 30 seconds or so and then everything died. There was a 10 amp inline fuse on the sprayer pump that remains intact so I'm skeptical I pulled more than that.
3. I pulled off the grille to get access to the fuse boxes and at that point noticed that the instrument panel no longer lit up, nor any of the lights (turn signals, hazards, front lights, etc). The glow plug blinks during ignition but that's it.

I've yet to find any fuses that have blown and everything w/in the fuse box is measuring at 12.6V. What's perhaps most puzzling is that the tractor starts up (and shuts off) fine, hydraulics work, etc.

I hope I'm just missing something obvious but some starter questions:

- What fuse(s?) drives the blue-taped plugs on the back of the tractor?
- Is the instrument panel a prerequisite for the lights functioning?

I've skimmed through the WSM but have yet to find answers to either. Appreciate any tips/pointers!

What are the wire colors that you used(blue tape is worthless) and no each appear to have a seperate fuse, but both fuses gets power from the slow-blow fuse. Have you verified your meter and checked at the plugs?

Hidden behind the battery is a main fuse that you have blown. I did the same thing with my BX23S and it took me the better part of the day before I found the hidden fuse. Don't remember who told me about it, but they save my bacon once I knew where to look. I got lucky and didn't have to take the battery out, but sometimes that is the only way that you will find it.

hmm.... everything w/in the fuse box is measuring at 12.6V.

to me it kinda says the main 40A slow blow fuse is fine......

FWIW the attached bx wiring is really crisp and clear ! I'm going to copy, paste and compare to the fuzzy BX23S version. I'm hoping it's 99.44% the same so I'll then have something I can see on the screen.

As a 'recap'.. will the tractor start/run, but no 'display' cept for the glowlight ?

Thanks all -- the back plugs are R/L which is the DC outlet and R/B which is the working lights (although I don't see an obvious place in the diagram that matches a loose R/B plug). My multimeter is good (a nice fluke) so with the hint on how to map the colors to the diagram I'll get back out there and report back.

@DustyRusty - when your main fuse was blown the tractor would still start and operate?
@GreensvilleJay - That's right. The engine starts and stops and the hydraulics work, just no instruments or lights.

according to the bx.pdf above... there's a 5A fuse for the 'meter' ( aka instrument cluster or dash ).
maybe it's open ??

check the 'lamp' 20A fuse.... it looks like it supplies power, through the 'lamp relay' TO the dash......

Ok I figured it out: the fuse labels don't match the actual fuses/circuits!

What was labelled "ignition" seems to have been the meter panel because when I swapped it in w/ a spare (or at least what appears to be labelled as a spare!) everything lit up again. The "ignition" labelled circuit had a very clearly blown fuse despite the fact that the engine was definitely igniting.

It makes me slightly nervous that I now can't trust the labels but at least I have a functioning tractor?

Thanks all for the problem solving!

Recall that the original language was Japanese and that there is really not an electrical ignition circuit on a diesel engine and that may make you less nervous.

In reality the “ignition” circuit may be correctly named since it does allow the engine to be cranked up by allowing power to be applied to the correct circuits???

Where is the best place to tap into 12vpos. with Ignition switch on?

The wire you originally connected to 'should' be fine IF it's the fused 'worklight' wiring.... I power my LED headlights from there through a 4chnl RF relay box.
There's 2 in the blue taped bundle, one live 24/7, the other 'switched'. Black wire is ground.
