I recently acquired a early 80's L245DT and the fuel tank shutoff valve leaks from the center of the shaft when turned on, not from where the valve is attached to the tank. The manual shows the breakdown of the valve with one O ring inside. Is it just a matter of removing the snap ring, the shaft, and replacing the O ring inside to fix the leak? And is it a special Kubota O ring, or just a standard metric O ring? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Most manufacturers source things like bearings and Orings from standard sources. As long as the material they are made of is resistant to diesel fuel, you should be OK.
Nearly EVERY hardware-store will have some Orings. Beware that Kubota is likely METRIC Orings.
If you have a local bearing-shop, they are often a good source for Orings and seals too.

You can just replace the o ring by removing the snap ring. I get the o ring from Kubota. I have not had any luck with generic Metric orings.

Thanks Lance. I located a Kubota dealer and will call them tomorrow after the holiday.
Update...I was able to order a couple of new OEM 1980 L245DT fuel valve O rings and a cir-clip direct from the dealer. New complete shutoff valves are available, but other than that no other internal valve parts like the needle valve or washer can be ordered.
