I am new to tractors, therefore I didn't know the pain of running out of fuel. So I refilled the tank, opened the vent knob, reprimed the filter bowl and it starts. However the fuel filter bowl empties when I start it. Fast with the vent knob closed and even faster with it open. I have repeated the process over and over with the same result. Does this mean fuel is not leaving the tank to the filter, or could there be an air lock between the two? Or any other suggestions?

when you broke the filter bowl loose - did it seat correctly back, gasket? And the vent knob? The fuel bleed bolt?

I am thinking you still have air inline. This is on your L4600???

yes, 2013 L4600. It seemed to seat properly when replaced. The bowl empties quickly (2 min) when the vent knob is closed, and even faster when open. It runs fine as long as I keep opening the filter bowl and refilling it (but obviously not very long).

Sounds like when you ran the tank dry, you sucked something into the outlet plugging it up, or possibly the inlet to fuel filter (very common problem).
Pull the out line from the tank off of the filter housing if you have good fuel flow from there (have something to clamp the line off) then pull the filter housing and inspect the inlet for an obstruction.
