measuring the terminal voltage of a battery is NOT a true test of any battery.
Normally you do a 'load test' on a battery to calculate it's 'state of charge'. More testing and friggin math, but if you follow the MFRs proceedures, you'll get close to what they say. With Gate's batteries I was using, I did a 'load test' every 22.5 minutes and had 'alarm' bits sent to the host as 'OK', 1/2, 1/4, 1/8th charge left.

Silly thing with EV batteries... you HAVE to use their energy to warm themselves up before they can be used in Winter(cold days) yet 'they' don't publish how much that costs in fewer miles driven. Same with NOT reporting what happens when you have the heated seats on, defrosters on, heater at max, infoscreen, etc. while stuck in a traffic jam Xmas eve..... Also not posted is what happens when the battery gets real low. In the case of Teslas(1st gen for sure), you can drain the battery down and NOT be able to get into the car after it locks itself. At least Ford has a 'cutoff', where car can't be driven BUT you can still get into the trunk to get the power cable !

Interesting discussion on testing a battery. My van wouldn't start so I charged the battery (to see it if that was the issue) and it started fine. Put the battery on a Float charger and it indicated all was well. Took the van out and after 2 stops it would not start. So how is it the charger and my tester (showed over 13 v) says it's full when clearly it was not. (I now have a new battery)

Charge your bad battery, disconnect it, and let it sit undisturbed for a week. Then measure the voltage.

Next time - that battery is on route to it's final resting place. Sounds like a simple meter test is pretty much useless - unless you can wait a week. My BX battery is 6 years old and works fine - might have to try the 1 week test on it.

Reg is still around 4.39 give or take a few pennies depending where you go and Diesel has dropped to 5.99

re: So how is it the charger and my tester (showed over 13 v) says it's full when clearly it was not.

simply because there is a huge difference between voltage and current.
consider a pack of 8 AA batteries wired in series(12V) and a real car battery
which WILL start your car ? You need current, amps, LOTS of electrons to start any engine

consider that voltage is the 'potential' to do work, current DOES the work.
Chargers will put a 'surface charge' into any battery(cept one with a real dead cell), and 'meters' do not 'lad' down the battery when they read them. A typical DVM looks like a 10 million ohm 'load', nothing really s it reads 12v.
True battery testers will place a load(very low ohms) across battery and THEN read the voltage.

Good 'battery chargers' will have 4 operations. Desulph, fast charge, slow, maintain. Desulph breaksdown the sulphur whiskers that'll 'short' out a battery internally, fast gets most of the battery recharge, slow to finish to 100%, then maintain, where it reads the battery(under a load),'tops up as required' then disconnects from battery.

New AP article out today about efforts to reduce gas prices. You can read it here as I don't dare post the quote. I'd suggest reading the entire article.

Only thing that comes to mind after reading that. Box of rocks in the bottom of a river is smarter than that. 2020 we didn't need foreign oil. What the heck happened?

Good question. Plus factor in more Hybrids in service plus electric cars. Any sane person can connect the dots on the agenda. Plus the handling of current events shows we plan on needing foreign energy from that area in the future.

electrons are a 'fuel' ;)

and

both gas or diesel is about $7 USD per USG here near Hamilton,Ontario

Its about fuel prices. Thus energy and what is fueling the price hikes. So we are on topic sir.

I think that is a matter of interpretation that the OP is the authority to make that decision. Skeets is the OP.

3 4 22 this was started as Fuel prices
Im still failing to understand what quantifies as allowable in a generic titled
Thread. I answered a question / remark that prompted his response about BS. Simply stating that we also utilize gas saving vehichles more than ever is not BS rather its a fact.
But yes i am not the OP so please let us know what is allowed to be discussed. I mean no disrespect as well. I reply to things like were talking in person. In almost 30 days Fuel Prices has been disected as to why. That brought electric vehichles in to it. Also a lot of cool facts about them that educated people. Thats a good thing right ?
Thats my interpretation.
