We were talking today about getting the Blackstone grill out for the season. I know we will be surprised at the price of propane when we get to town...

hmm.. wonder if I can use the unused gas ration coupons I have from WWII next week ???
Interesting you say that. My dad was looking through some of the boxes we have brought home from his parent's house and he found a gas ration coupon that allowed you to purchase 1 gallon of gas.

Today in Upstate New York - - diesel $4.89, regular gas $4.19.

Truck was over half tank....still took $40 of gas...spent $21 for diesel.

thought it was up because of covid restrictions 🤔.

this is getting confusing
Covid caused an oversupply of oil due to people staying home so oil companies lost big bucks and decreased production. Now with demand increased again, it has taken awhile for production to ramp up and supply increase. That caused higher prices. Now the war is worsening the situation because world prices are climbing daily.

Drove into the station to get gas, and the signs said $4.07, but the pump showed $4.17. The attendant said that she just got the call from the manager to raise the price by 10 cents, and it was the second call of the day! The cost of the fuel in the ground didn't change, but the station operators are just taking advantage of the people by raising prices. Took just over 20 gallons, so that 10 cents netted the station operator an additional $2 on just one sale!

WE shouldn't have to pay 'world prices' for OUR oil....plain and simple..it's just greed and corruption of those in office that force us to pay obscene prices for OUR natural resources and what WE can make here

Yup, but since Congress authorized the export of US oil several years ago, the prices are now based on world prices.

Was reading this morning that the prediction before the war broke out was for $120 a barrel oil and fuel prices in the mid-$4 range by June. Today, the market is already trading on futures and betting that oil will be $200 per barrel by the end of the month. IF that holds true and other factors stay the same, the prediction predication is $14-$19 a gallon.

Looking at other predictions, they are showing $5.80 a gallon and depending on what part of the country you are in, that has already been passed with some Los Angles stations starting to sell gas at $7.25.

Reading current predictions, many areas are already hitting and exceeding those.

The last time diesel was over $4 per gallon, I saw a lot more trains carrying east-west freight and a lot less trucks on the east-west interstate highways. I bet we start seeing this again.

The last time fuel economy became important (and Michigan lowered the speed limit) I thought car manufacturers ought to post a little graph of fuel usage in mpg versus speed for the different models instead of just MPG on their window stickers. The best fuel economy is NOT at 75 as most drivers around here would seem to think. My 2003 Duramax diesel averages 21 mpg, but if I dial it back to 55 or so on the fwy it will run at 27mpg.
