So this fuel jug has screen to catch whatever debris might go into the jug. The problem is that there "were" tabs to prevent it from being removed so no way to dump the debris from it without turning the jug upside down. I said "were" because only after much prying, I was able to lift it from the jug. I then snipped the tabs off.

Now the silly thing is that without dumping the screen, whatever was caught while filling the jug would be the first thing to go out of the nozzle when pouring the fuel into my fuel tank.

They walk among us.

Actually, that is a flame mitigation device, not a debris screen.

I added the vent.

Thank You for properly identifying the screen as a flame mitigation device. I suppose that it is in a Diesel jug as a "CYA" in case someone put gasoline in a Diesel container.

To me this is the value of a forum such as this. Post a question and immediately get an answer. (y)

I agree.
Dang. I posted this late but don't know how to delete it. Oh well.
How does a person delete a post they didn't mean to make?

I don't believe that we have "delete" privileges, but your reply was welcome. ;)

I know that I learned something which makes me glad that I took the time to post the question here even though I was expressing my frustration instead of my knowledge. Live, learn, and share. (y)
