L245H - There was a fuel leak coming out from under the tractor. I couldn't see where it was coming from but just out of curiosity I pulled the engine oil drain plug and there was approximately a gallon to two gallons of diesel in the crankcase. The only thing I can think of is it is coming from the fuel injection pump? Any ideas?:

Not sure how your tractor is "plumbed" but the same issue with my old John Deere was caused by the primer (lift) pump. Hole/crack in the diaphragm.

does it have a lift pump? It's a small pump that the fuel line from the tank goes to, then there's usually another line that comes off of the lift pump that runs up the injection pump. If it's got a lift pump, there's a possibility that yours has a ruptured diaphragm inside of it, if so just replace the whole lift pump.

Caution with trying to crank the engine - may be fuel in cylinders see below! But I may be really off the mark!

I know my L185 (smaller version of similar vintage I think) is only gravity fed. The tank is high up by steering wheel and fuel filter is lower by the clutch pedal area.

If you are positive it is diesel fuel that eliminates the seals on the hydraulic pump failing which allows hydraulic fluid to be pumped into the crankcase.

I think you should evaluate the injectors to see if they are leaking into the cylinders. I think you should be careful with any rotating of the engine until you remove the glow plugs or injectors. It can hydro lock if there is fuel leaking into the cylinders.

See if you think that the injectors could be siphoning fuel from the tank, which would be the only way to get that much fuel into the crankcase. Nothing is able to pump fuel except the injection pump as far as I know.

No lift pump on it.

Update, somehow the fuel was going through the injection pump. Replace the injection pump and no more fuel in the crankcase. Expensive way to fix it I am sure but I don't have the know how to rebuild the pump. Even Kubota tells you to leave it to trained specialists.
