Need some help. Purchased 2020 L6060 and have about 50 hours on it, the problem is, the fuel gauge keeps going to full. The dealer has worked on it several times and has been unable to correct the issue. When I driver the tractor, the fuel gauge will eventually go to full and stay there, if the tractor sits, it will go to the proper level. Dealer has replaced the sending unit, checked grounds, etc. If tractor sits even running, the gauge will normally read right. Its very strange issue on new machine, especially since its an analog gauge. Any input would help. thanks,
I think the vent for the LH tank is plugged so it sucks the fuel out of the RH tank. The check valve is not perfect so over night fuel drains back to the RH tank.

Hi guys, my first post here.
I’m having the same issue with my 2020 L6060 fuel gauge staying on full. Been to the dealer once so far. All tests showed no problems and the gauge worked until I got the tractor home.
GBJeffOH, this make sense. Has it been confirmed the vent and or valve is the problem?
Thanks for any help.

The problem is almost certainly the crossover between the two tanks. Only one tank has a sending unit and if more fuel ends up on that side, it reads full until the engine finally starts burning that fuel off. As for the comment Tinman made about this being "analog" and the old 40-series being "digital," that really isn't the case. Both use a simply float-style resistance sending unit in the tank, and the resistance level is sent to the cluster. The 40-series displayed the resistance level in the form of a digital bar graph; the 60-series uses a stepper motor to display the resistance level via an analog gauge. I much prefer the analog gauge style.

yep was a common complaint here. It's hilly here. Not mountainous, but a little rolling hills. People would use their tractors on the hillsides and in longer runs the gauge would show full or empty depending on which side was lower. Throws you for a loop. And ain't nothing you can do about it other than change your tractoring direction from driving across the hill to driving up/down the hill if possible. And even then, it's wise to know how long the tractor will typically run on a tank of fuel.

That's not the same as what is happening to these Grand L 60 tractors.

Post #12, shows and explains how the problem can occour.
You can always add a sensor/gauge to the other tank.....

The point is that something is failing. When brand new, the fuel gauge works perfectly. Sure, it might inaccurately briefly while on a slope or something like that - even a car will doe that. But then, after some hours and age on the machine, the gauge starts reading "full" when clearly it isn't remotely full. It is a new behavior of the fuel gauge that never happened before. And that's because of the crossover / check valve not working properly. Having to add a second gauge is ridiculous given what these machines cost. There should be some kind of a recall campaign on these L60's with an updated, improved part because this problem seems to happen to most of them.

Since they work fine when new.... then go 'bad'....
maybe 'gunk, sludge, gorf, yuck' in the diesel is plugging up the check valve or whatever 'magic' mechanism is between the 2 tanks.

re: Having to add a second gauge is ridiculous given what these machines cost.

the planes aI used to fly had TWO fuel sensors and gauges, one for left AND one for right tank. pretty sure safety was more important than the minor cost factor

Yeah there are limits to the allowable weight imbalance from a control standpoint.
