I have a B7500 and since winter is on its way, I burned my fuel level down to about 1/8 of a tank and filled with #1. However, the gauge still reads 1/8. Any ideas? Stuck float?

My first question Daren asked already.

If mechanical - see if you can see the float, even if electrical - there could be float issue and or electrical issue. See if there is a fuse or anything along those lines. DOES it move at all or just graveyard dead at 1/8 tank?

I've tackled some electrical fuel gauges lately. Had a run on them. Two were grounding issues on the sending unit, where running a jumper cable from one of the mounting bolts to frame cured the issue. If they have a single wire, then they ground through the housing. Usually mounted with a rubber gasket, and of course the fuel tanks are usually mounted with rubber or nylon bushings to cut down on vibration. So they tend to develope intermittent grounding issues.

The third was stuck in the empty position. Was able to free up the float with some pb blaster. Then oiled pivot points liberally for smooth operation:cool:

Yes, I reviewed the fuel tank diagram and will try to see the float. Hopefully just stuck. I do believe it is electrical. Will check tomorrow and respond with results. Thanks.

The float is mechanical and connected to a type of rheostat, so electrical. I could not see the float due to the red diesel fuel. Put a wire down and tried to "feel" the float mech but did not seem to locate. When turned ON the gauge needle moves from below the E to on or a little above the E. Should read near F. Any other ideas?

When my BX2670 was delivered. He told me while fueling it up for delivery he noticed the gauge didn't work. It had 2 hr's on it. Dealer fixed it. We will see how long this one last.
