Bob, I was commenting on your first sentence and may have taken it too literally. Having worked in the oil industry a bit I roil at the notion that refinery production, distribution, etc are the driver of end user cost. I don't care if it is diesel or gasoline (regardless of octane), the price at the pump is less a reflection of Detroit's motives than are our domestic and foreign policies relative to fossil fuels, special interest money, etc.
