I have a 2000 L3010 GST. Sometimes it starts right up. Othertimes it will click a few times before it turns over and statrs. I have replaced the battery, starter, cellenoid, cleaned the ground cable and reattached, although it wasn't really corroded. I tried grounding directly to the engine, no change. All wire connections appear to be good. I have ordered a new ignition switch. When it comes in I will try replacing that. If there is anything that I missed or if anyone has any other suggestions, I would surely appreciate hearing from you. Thank You.

Is the clicking coming from the solenoid when it won't start? Honestly it sounds like a bad battery cables connection. Did you do anything with the positive lead to the starter? Check the voltage at the battery during cranking. If it doesn't drop when it just clicks power isn't getting to the starter motor.

I'm going to be out of town for a couple of days, but will check the positive cable when I return,as well as putting a meter on the battery. Will let you know the outcome. Thank you very much for the reply.

If the starter solenoid is clicking it probably isn't the safety lockouts. Those are usually switches in the solenoid trigger circuit (what the starter switch is energizing). If the circuit is open then the starter solenoid won't click. However it's possible you're hearing another relay clicking, perhaps the for glow plugs. I'm not familiar with the electrical system on that machine. Listen where it's coming from, the starter or behind the dash.

I sort of go along with Stumpy on this one. After changing everything else, I'd certainly look at the key switch. Check the connections on the starter as well, if you haven't already. After you check battery voltage, check it again at the starter.
Lots of luck! Let us know how you make out.

Mystery solved. Changed the ignition switch and so far the problem has dissapeared. Thanks to all who offered suggestions, it was greatly appreciated. Lesson learned. After spending hundreds of dollars on selenoids and starter, the problem was a 31.00 part , ouch. Beware on this model, Kubota will sell you a selenoid, but if after you want a starter you have to buy the starter/selenoid assembly. So changing just the selenoid first may not be the best idea. There must be a way to check the selenoid. Anyway, thanks again. This site is awesome.

To check the solenoid I use test lights. Hook one end to + battery the other ground it to the starter and it should light up telling you the starter is grounded. With another test light run it from the - battery to the end of the +battery cable where it hooks up to the solenoid post and it should light up. Now I have two lights on, The first light tells me the ground connection is working and the second one says + cable is working down to the end of it.They should be nice and brite . Now with a third light run one end of it to the other large post on the solenoid that goes to the starter and the other end of it to the - on the battery, It should not light up. Now you need a jumper wire, run it from the + battery to the small terminal on the solenoid, that bypasses all the wiring of the switch and so on and you should hear the solenoid click and the third light should light up and and the starter should turn. If one of the three lights goes out or gets really dim it's a clue of a bad connection in that area or if all three go really dim the battery is weak.
