I picked up a B8200 a few weeks ago. i noticed the front drive shaft protetive tin cover over the shaft where it goes into the front differential is loose and spins with the driveshaft. Is there some sort of coupler that needs to be on there?

Mine actually was leaking oil from the front axel drive shaft from being loose. I put a couple of hose clamps on it and it seemed to fix the problem. I had a similar problem as you had with my B6200 and it worked with that one also.
Mine has nothing there for a boot or anything. I assume it should have some sort of rubber boot? I will take a pic of mine today and post it.
My B8200 has the same cover you are talking about. It is held on by a bolt on mine. It's a metal cover that protects joint.
