I'm working on this L4400 and just put a new injector pump and fuel pump on it and got it running great now but when I was putting it together noticed a rubber hose running off the front axle to the top of the engine. I think it's the vent hose but want to make sure it wasn't hooked up to anything? It doesn't look like it was.

The hose should be plugged into the curved pipe on the coolant surge tank mounting bracket, which is on top of the intake manifold.
