Seems that filling the front axle with gear oil is a several day process. The manual says it takes 9.5 qts but after about 6 qts it starts leaking out the fill hole. Wait a while and it will only take a little more. I check if every few hours after running the tractor and every time I check it, it will take more oil. Does it take that long for the oil to fill the bevel gear cases?

I also noticed that when I remove the filler cap there is air leaking in or out of the filler hose, either a vacuum or pressure in the axle case. There is no vent hose that I can find on the axle. Is this normal?

Is there a vent - or fill plug - on the opposite side? Some have them. If so, loosen/remove that plug/vent ant the axle will fill a lot faster.

Care to walk out to the tractor and have pencil and paper in hand and write down the model number, as Kubota never made a 5750HSTC-3. 🤨

Oops, never noticed that I had the wrong model #listed in my profile. Is there a way I can correct that? It is a L5740.
However, according to both my owners manual and WSM it is listed as 9.5 qts. the L3240, L3540 & L3940 have a 6.9 qt capacity. No models are listed as 6.3 qts. Is my information incorrect?
Also even after putting over 6 qts in it and rechecking every so often I am still able to add more. Never measured the total amount I put in, but I'd say it's no way 9.5 qts.
I tried to copy what's in my manual to this post, but I don't know how to do that.

May be confused about a lot of things, but I did figure out how to fix the model # of my tractor!

Keep adding until it’s full. Use the book numbers as a rough estimate.

It might take several days depending on temperature with gear oil. Just don’t forget about it being low.

My M6040 took topping off 4 days with UDT2 to be completely full. Which flows better than gear oil.

Your front axle should never be full of fluid!

Here is a screenshot of the operator's manual for an L5740HSTC-3 as theOPM always has to most up-to-date information.

So there is a huge discrepancy between manuals?
Did they change the axles between the L5740 and the L5740-3 and info didn't get transferred to the -3 older manuals?
I hate giving bad info! 🤨

Thanks for providing the right answer! ;)

I edited out my bad info!

Found the same experience filling the M59 front axle except has a dipstick. Takes awhile for the oil to go thru the axle bearings to fill the hubs.

My older Kubotas the front axle had separate reservoirs for axle and hubs.

Used Lucas synthetic gear oil on a warm day on the B26 front axle. Lifted the axle with the FEL and hand spun the tires. <30minutes able to add the correct amount of oil.

No problem wolfman, your information was just one of three different answers. I had the wrong tractor model listed, so let's call it a draw:)
Took a quick look at the L5740 axle part numbers for the various L5740 models. Axle case is the same for all, but gear case was updated. Maybe the newer case has more capacity???

i have a pump-up garden sprayer purchased New for the specific purpose of installing gear-oil. It has graduations on the tank. So when I drained the front axle (at each wheel)… I knew it was properly serviced when I pumped 8.5 qts into it as indicated on the sprayer tank.

I have several of these cheap ($15) sprayers…one for gear oil…one for hydraulic fluid for an small airplane brake system…and others for other specific purpose fluids.

The engine oil-filler on my M4700DT is difficult to pour oil into due to the frame blocking it. I install the fresh engine oil in a sprayer…. pump it up…. flow the oil into the engine.

Hope this is a helpful idea. <edit> Cut the spray nozzle off. Also the handle has a locking trigger which allows me to walk away or perform some other task for the few minutes it may take for some tasks. AND…since the fluid is sent under pressure…it’s a really simple way to back-fill brake systems from the wheel cylinders without having to “bleed” air out.
