L3130 Just changed front axel oil switched to 80-90 gear oil drained a little from both sides when changing motor oil for a look see {Struck gold} changed front axel oil at 1000hr serv. used udt 2 did not strike gold at that service time . Don't know what oil was in it then as I just got it. Had 950 hrs . Struck gold this time very fine . Thats why the switch to gear oil. Think UDT TO LIGHT 1,165 hrs & two yrs "THOUGHTS"

Fergy - not sure what you are saying struck gold - hard to follow what you are doing OTHER than switching from one oil to another in your front AXLE.

That's rather odd because i don't know of anything in that front end that is bronze!
I'd have to dig deeper into it.

Haved dumped oil into waste drum {dam} Was very light. Will run for a while & take a sample ?????

I'm thinking someone added something to the oil, or it was a modified oil, as I said I don't know of anything brass or bronze in that front end.
Perhaps the OP is finding some of the "fines" left over from Kubota's machining processes?

I would hope after a 1000 hours - that axle oil had been changed a time or two! Shoot, at those 1000 hours it should have been changed like 3 times already! Then again we hear the stories of changing the oil filter - the original painted version at 400 hours too!
When I got the tractor it had 950 hrs & no history / Filters were not O.E.M. so it had oils changed / I changed every thing at 1000hrs including front axel / used UDT2 / was changing eng. oil so I pulled a little oil from both sides 2 quarts or so did not look at it untill after I finished oil change that when I noticed it very small amount with some metallic. / So drained all changed to 80-90 gear oil. Will run for 5 to 10 hrs operating & check. (Scratching my head if there something left in the drain pan ?)
