Interesting change in the dynamics of hog confinment . My neighbor a major player in the swine industry in our State in the USA has to 'widen' his yet unbuilt 500' long gestation barn an additional 10' due to 'Hormel Foods' move away from confinement pens toward larger pen gestation. PETA must behind this new trend.
More operating cost, more cost to pass along to consumers. Next the hogs will be unionizing !

The hog confinement issue is one for concern. People who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about demanding changes in the way we handle livestock production. BTW, in Ohio it was HSUS (Humane Scociety of the United States) not PETA that threatened ballot initiatives to eliminate almost all confinement type animal husbandry/production systems. The state struck a deal with them to keep it off the ballot, but they'll (HSUS) be back, just a matter of time.
