Been keeping me up at night since we bought the place a few months back, primarily the rubber hose...

Photo is of the type of "trap" that was leaking which started our plumbing adventure.
I had to look up the "drum trap". Never seen one of those! WRT the polybutylene, hope you're on a well at least.

To be fair, for us the rest is primarily copper with gate valves to shut off each area. Although those valves do need attention.

With only 2 prior owners since the place was built (30s), it seems to have had less "remuddling", generally speaking.

I helped #3 Son look for a house about 10 years ago. Some of the DIY projects were downright scary. I told the realtor (an acquaintance of his) that he should try to find a place that the owner hasn't tried to "improve".

Nice! Yeah, those jacuzzi tubs tend to just take up valuable square footage.

I developed all kinds of pinholes in a previous abode with polybutylene, on city water. We have a trailer with polybutylene but it's on a well, and zero issues there.

We're on the opposite end of your water pressure spectrum at 25psi. Tolerable for the short term, but not sustainable...

Well water plays heck with those also... over time.

I prefer a ball valve over a gate valve.

Although its tough to find one with a bleeder cap. which is nice when yer shutting off the outside water for the winter.

Yeah, I'm with you on the valves. I'll def replace with 1/4 turns. I'm not interested in having them fail again when I'm too old to want to mess with them! I envision extending the new "PEX core" out to include those valves.

Hadn't considered valves with bleeders for the spigots. I'll tuck that away, thanks.

I'm sure there's only one person in the universe who may not realize that the valves with bleeders are directional. This post is for him, and him alone:)
