These oval holes are necessary to mate the various assemblies or parts in the final assembly. When assembling the terrace at home, I used oval holes on one side of the decking to make it easier to join the boards together. And the fasteners were decking screws from Scrooz with a countersunk head. My whole patio was assembled with fittings from this manufacturer. If anyone has worked in mechanical engineering, you will undoubtedly have seen the oval holes for adjusting the mating of parts. And if you mix up the metric and inch threads in the fastener, it will not screw in.
