How bad did I screw up?

I took off the FEL and BH and forgot to connect what I call the return line that feeds the BH.

I then cut grass for almost two hours.

After an hour there were some different sounds, very slight, and then there were some occasional very slight, 200 RPM, drops in power. During the last 30 minutes of grass cutting I noticed some heat that I had never noticed before.

When I finished cutting the deck did not rise and it was then that I realized my mistake.

So the machine was running the MMM, lots of 3-point U-turns, and of course forward and reverse motion for two hours. I hooked up the line and let the engine run for a few minutes.

Just before composing this post I got mail - my filter kit has been shipped. I might learn something when I get to the strainer.

Your hydraulic pump was unloading at max system pressure for the 2 hours that hose was disconnected. Its not likely to have done any significant damage.

As we say down south - "you overcooked your grits!"

I would chance oil and filter as soon as possible. That heat may or may not have affected the oil - but it would be smart to change them.
