UDT vs UDT2

Is one better than the other for my BX24?

Also the dealer says I can use UDT/(2) or 80/90 gear oil in my front axle. Pros and cons for either?

I have a few hours to go yet on my BX2370, but I plan to stay with UDT2 in the HST. I have 80/90 gear oil for the snowblower so I will also use it in the front axle. The only reason I can see for putting HST fluid in the front axle is not having gear oil.

SUDT2 in the transmission, and nothing else. Front axle, take your pick. They come pre-filled with SUDT2. I usually refill with 80w90. It leaks out slower when it develops a leak, and that's really the only reason I use it in my stuff.

I find the S-UDT2 was a godsend in the HST, I think I will use it in front too. If it leaks, it will not be due to the oil, rather the seals are bad and even the 80w will leak over time.
Oil does not make seals go bad nor leak worse, synthetic oils will leak faster through worn seals than 80w - due to the molecule size and lack of viscosity over a thicker oil.

I placed 10 hours on my BX this weekend - hauling it 70 miles in one direction and 70 in another - I remember a couple of times hearing the whine.......
otherwise it just purred !:D:)

85Hokie, those hours of hauling time do not count as tractor seat time!:D:D

But if you went 70 miles in one direction and 70 miles in another, you could be a long ways from home. Maybe that's why it's whining.

Have you seen the commercial where the man and wife walks in to the motorcycle dealership and he is blind and they cut away to the guy ridding the bike home? The guy is on the bike on a trailer being pulled by his wife in a car. So it would be possible to get seat time while hauling it :D :D :D
