But what confuses me is why are some of the implements and mowers made in the USA have tariffs and some don't?? It doesn't make a lot of sense.USA tariffs SHOULD affect ONLY the implements and attachments as the tractor is Made in Japan. Historically 'farm equipment' has come into Canada from the USA 'duty free' ( tariff), so not taxed. Tractors over xx HP ( have to look it up..) also are NOT taxed( tariff) as 'farm use'. Under the xx HP, they are (or were).
There's also the CAUSMA ( NAFTA2.0) laws where 95% of the goods are under,so NO new tariffs. What's absurd is that NOBODY ( poiltician, guv employee, media jerks) can ACTUALLY say what the 35% tariff announced this week applies to !
It could still be the 'size' issue. I know, 25 years ago if a disc was under a certain length ( or width ,hay it was awhile ago. ) it wasn't deemed 'farm', rather 'hobby', so it got taxed. Would need to see the 'commodity' code book as to what 'code' it is. Smart people READ the book, and put their stuff in the best catagory as some are 'flexible' as to interpretation. But what confuses me is why are some of the implements and mowers made in the USA have tariffs and some don't??
