Anybody ever put a flow control(s) on the hydraulic lines to slow the action of the bucket curling? Wondering what you did and how it worked out? I'm wanting to limit the speed of my curl at certain times.

Thanx !

You'll want a needle valve with control both ways. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Hydraulic-Control-Needle-Valve-Ports/dp/B07WXHFDNK

(I thought!!!) I used this one, https://www.surpluscenter.com/Brand...nce-WFC-600-In-Line-Flow-Control-9-7960-6.axd (UPDATE; I did NOT buy this one, this only controls flow in one direction, free flow in the other.)

(More Update) This controls in both directions: https://www.surpluscenter.com/Brand...-Wolverine-by-Prince-Mfg-WNV-600-9-7961-6.axd

There are others out there, too: https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydraulics/Hydraulic-Valves/Flow-Control-Valves/

The loader control valve should provide all of the metering control you could need. Do you mean dump rather than curl?

Hey Dan - - Planning on putting a basket on the forks so I can trim trees from. Wife will be driving the tractor. Don't want to give her the opportunity to flip me out of the basket, as she's not that mechanical.

You are headed for disaster. Using the loader as a man lift is bad enough. Putting someone that is not qualified at the controls is compounding the danger.

You need to put your wife in the basket!!!! :ROFLMAO: :p🤪 The needle valve can be turned down to pretty fine control.

Don't buy the one I listed that was "bought by me" that's not the correct one I had control in BOTH directions...

look for that one now...

Not mine but would work: https://www.surpluscenter.com/Brand...-Wolverine-by-Prince-Mfg-WNV-600-9-7961-6.axd

They don't sell mine any more, it looks like the one shown in my first post but controls flow in both directions. You might like the fact that she can raise you up pretty fast but only let you down slowly... When you buy, you'll want to stay near 8 gpm flow rate, most small tractors are in the 5-7 gpm range.

Simplest rule to implement IF you end up doing this...

Idle the engine. That will slow the action of the loader.

As far as slowing the action of the loader, you could use an adjustable restriction as mentioned, or an adjustable flow divider. If you use restrictors you would need two if you want to control both lift and curl functions. Also, since the volume of each side of a hydraulic cylinder is different, the restriction will have a slightly different effect depending on which way the cylinder is moving. Not a big deal, in my opinion. But a flow divider upstream of the loader valve, while requiring more plumbing, also gives more total adjustability and affects all functions simultaneously.

But i would be surprised if the engine at idle wasn't already slow enough. My loaders barely move at idle. Or at least.. that's what it seems like from the driver's seat! I'm sure standing on them is a lot less boring..
