Looking for maximum size recommendations/experiences with flail mowers for the L6060(or other tractors in this series).

I'll be cutting relatively level pasture, no ditch banks. I've seen suggestions ~6hp/foot of cutter. Wondering how well real world experience compares.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations/experiences/comments.

FYI- there is a ton of information on flail mowers on the TBN website, including threads with over 700 pages. Not necessarily Kubota specific, but very informative.

If just clipping pastures, I expect you will be weight limited well before HP limited.

Kubota specifies 6' and 1,100 Lbs. max for L6060 flail mower.

I use a 40 year old 60HP Deutz with a 7' flail with trail wheels. It doesn't know it's there and after I go through a field it looks like it was mowed with a zero turn.

I'm running a Del Morino Centurion Super 158 behind the MX6000 with no issues at all in terms of the size or weight of the mower. There's a learning curve and I'm still running it less than optimally, but the tractor easily handles the 820lb weight. I actually wish this mower was available in a wider model.

I'm not sure of the intended design purpose for the articulating lift arm connection point (see arrows below) but I find it annoying since it allows the mower cutting head to move out of perpendicular relative to the direction of travel of the tractor. I'm probably doing something wrong when dragging the cutter over the grass so if anyone has any thoughts I'm all ears.

Late reply, but I have extensive experience flail mowing. I ran a 78" flail behind my L4060 HSTC for the last couple of years. It worked fine but would big down in the thick grass or on hills. The tractor handled the weight very well. This year I am running the same mower behind my MX6000 and it powers it very well.

I am looking to get a flail mower for my M5140 Cab, which weighs @5,500 lbs with loader and filled tires. Supposed to be 46 hp at the PTO. I will be cutting 18 acres of fescue, may I ask which model you have?
