Fixing thread for hydrolic filter B7000

I might be out in left field on this but isn't 3/4 npt 3/4-14? If it is and the same od would you be able to chase the thread carefully with a pipe tap? the taper might actually make it easier to start straight. I am working from memory here and was thinking 3/4 pipe is about an inch and an eight od.

National pipe thread has a flank angle of 60 degrees. British pipe thread is 55 degrees. Plus the major diameters are different. I would strongly recommend using the proper tap.

Being in Europe the OP probably is aware that BSPP is also a DIN standard Thread
(G .5 equal to BSPP .5)

Yes I see that after I posted and looked up some info. I used to work in industry and we had a lot german machinery with din plumbing. We had a lot of the right taps but often it was a drain plug that was messed up like this job. sometimes a rush to get it back up and running and we would do something like I suggested and then order the proper tap for future. We had one guy famous for cross threading and would get a bigger wrench even on a straight thread with a sealing washer.

A 3/4 BSPP tap should be easy to get in his part of the world.

Did you confirm the thread size? If not why not take the fitting to a supplier and match it up to a bolt. In a pinch you could also turn the new bolt into a tap. Just a thought.

if you want to know the thread size, cross reference your filter to a Wix number. On the Wix site, look up the wix number and the filter specs show the thread size of the filter. Since there are no Napa stores in Holland, Wix makes Napa filters and that’s why the Napa stores have the thread specs. Just like the Wix site.

I did the same initially. My apology for the snappy response - this thread has gone waaaaay off the rails over something as trivial as measuring a thread to ID it and you caught me in a moment of weakness.
