Hello everyone!
I have just purchased my first tractor and would like to get some general information to begin with. I have done some searching here and on the net for some of the answers but no luck.

The tractor is a 1998 L3010 with LA481 loader and Bradco 3375 backhoe.

First question, what are the lifting specs for the loader and does it have “float” capabilities?

Second, what does the HST on the rear fender stand for? (nevermind this one I feel stupid)

Third, what does the E002-BCS on the engine cover stand for?

I originally was in the market for a BX2700. I am in the ornamental fence and gate business and needed a small tractor for digging four foot square holes for gate posts and drilling fence post holes with an auger.

Went to look at one at a dealer in Texas, but when I got there it wouldn’t start and was shown the 3010. This tractor was kept outside and was obviously not very well taken care of. All of the hydraulic lines were leaking as well as the front cylinders. It has 1700 hours and a little bigger than what I really need, but after a bit of haggling I got it for $8000. It seems to do everything it is supposed to when full of fluid other than that the only thing I can find wrong is the steering feels a bit sloppy (I will address this issue in a later topic when I look into it a little more). After playing with it a short while and taking a better look it seems this will not be very user friendly to change between the backhoe and auger on a regular basis.

So, question number four, should I fix this one and sell it (the 3010 seems to be going for around $14,000 around here) and buy BX2700 with a Kubota hoe and would that save me any time changing between the hoe and auger.

Thanks to everyone in advance and I am sure I will be posting many different questions in the very near future.

I have the same machine, except a later year and a Kubota backhoe.

The loader does have a float position.
HST Means hydrostatic transmission: no 'gear shift - L,M,H settings and the 'gas pedal' control foreward and reverse and more or less torque. Great for many applications.

I have the manuals but I pulled these data of the web

LA481 loader is rated at 1058lbs lift, 1951lbs breakout, 97.2" clearance to bottom of
bucket.
L3010 has 3 cyl 1499cc diesel, 30.4hp, 25.5 PTO hp, 2720lbs, 43.5" front track, 44.1"/51.4" rear track.

I don't know what the engine cover info means.

I find the steering a bit 'sloppy' as well. Its sort of weird - there is no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the mechanism: its all hydraulics. Works fine, though.

I don't know anything about the hoe you have, but I have a Kubota 3ph hoe. It is not going to be easy to switch from hoe to auger no matter what, at least on this tractor of any other I have seen. I made a 'dolly' for my hoe, which greatly speeds up changeover and storage.

The first thing you should do with a new used tractor is change all the filters and fluids, unless you have documented proof this was done immediately before sale. Its cheap insurance. Not so cheap, actually, because Super UDT (the only fluid you can use on Kubota HSTs) is distilled from angel tears.

I have a 2001 L3010 HST and other then it would be nice to have a bit more power, I absolutely love my tractor. I originally set out to buy a 40hp with shuttle shift, but this came along at a really good deal so i snatched it up. No regrets yet! :)

Thanks for the info Mingy!

There are three dealers here in Oklahoma City and none of them seem to know what the E002-BSC on the side cover means, it has to denote something otherwise why is it there.

I am looking for the serial number, I pressure washed it today and was hoping I would find it stamped somewhere. Is the serial number a sticker or a plate. There are stickers all over the tractor but all are faded and cant be read.

I am going to do a filter and fluid change tomorrow along with a dipstick that is missing, has a rag stuffed in the dipstick fill hole:eek:

I'd go with an OEM replacement dipstick. I'd guess a rag stuffed in the dipstick fill hole is not a sign the machine was well maintained. You might consider an air filter as well.

I don't remember where my SN plate is. I can say that I'd seen 40 year old ag equipment with intact SNs, so its probably there somewhere.

Rounded up all five filters and fluids today and found the glow plugs aren’t working:confused: Dealer says I need a glow plug controller and some sort of timer thingy. WOW……that was a quick $600:eek:

I have 2002 L3010 GST FEL and purchased used in 2003 with 600 hours. Just finished oil change, fuel filter, fixed site glass so I am no longer leaking UDT on my garage floor and am going to change out the front axel gear fluid and UDT tommorrow and need to figure out what I am going to do with 10 gallons of UDT prior to installing new udt.
I will figure something out. gather up old milk jugs.

I want a hydraulic remote, Kubota sells the remote part #L8407. What exactly does this entail to install a remote?

... Super UDT (the only fluid you can use on Kubota HSTs)...
I just did the 50 hour maintenance on my L3400 HST. The manual clearly states UDT or Super UDT, says they're interchangeable. I actually ended up mixing some of both. Mistake?
