Thank you "old and tired". I wished people would read the question fully.
Dear “rkh Kubota”… I don’t think anyone failed to read your question completely. I believe it (your original post) was taken to mean that When you reach 50 hrs you have no incentive to perform the 50 hrs service based upon some (questionable) advice given by “somone” at “Kubota”.
I also believe that it’s common for headstrong and confident participants to get “uppity” with other participants due to a certain level of anonymity that prevails behind a username and a keyboard.
Although it might have appeared to be so, … I’m certain that no one offering advice to you intended to insult your intelligence or to demean your advisor at Kubota.
I believe that your original post gave concern to those of us who have already seen, heard, and experienced other participants on these forums who have been denied warranty coverage over having relied upon simple bad advice. We hope to prevent such bad experiences happening to you, especially as a newcomer to the forums.
”Old and tired” may have ”lept to conclusion” assuming we are advising your to perform a 50 hr service prematurely. That is not the way I have read the comments.
And it’s important to note that Wolfman has posted information that shows certain maintenance should be performed on a calendar basis.
While some calendar items are merely a ”check”…. sometimes you’ll see items which appear to be unnecessarily “replaced”. An example is the air filter element to be replaced after one year….clearly a questionable, perhaps unnecessary replacement at only 11 hours operation…. BUT… birds and wasps and vermin often take up residence within un-used or lo—useage equipment and that is good reason to look at that filter and make a decision on it’s condition. (Also, some mx schedules don’t follow their own service-procedures. For example, on many tractors the primary (outer) filter is not actually replaced annually…. it is washed, dried, inspected, and reinstalled.
In such cases it’s wise to inspect and clean if conditions warrant….but most importantly that the owner RECORD the event to document the item was addressed. A permanent Record of Mx performed in accordance with the mfr’s schedule is a valuable asset when warranty service is needed and a service-center is reluctant or accusatory against the owner.
And this brings the conversation full-circle with respect to what most responses have been. We’re simply being protective of you and wanting to instill a sense of self-protection in your attitude toward “recommended maintenance” in the owner‘s manual.
Our intentions are good and mean well.
And… WELCOME to OTT! Post a Pic of your machine!
