First Time Kubota buyer, used B3000 or new B2650 or used L35/3950 cab

Great forum BTW. Been reading lots of threads and gathering info.

I've just purchased a small 1 acre lot and will be requiring a small tractor to plow snow (in Northern Canada, we get lots!), lawn chores and some dirt moving for landscaping.

Our boss has a B3000 that I found nice. Only complain is the horrible hydro noise when driving, but this sounds like a common complaint.

So, after first considering and deciding against a skid-steer (everyone says I should get a skid steer) I've pretty much decided for a low hour B3000 (34 hours!) or a brand new B2650. I want to stay away from the B3350 due to the DPF (but I can't say the extra HP is not tempting)

So, are there any B3000 owners who have driven the B2650? Do you think it 3cyl N/A feels underpowered compared to the 4cyl N/A B3350? Is the B2650 really a quieter cab?

If I jump for something with slightly higher hours, I can also move up to L35/3940 cab model. I'm really attracted to the HST plus and high/low lever. I drove a L4740 a few years back and it was nice. Not to big...but obviously bigger than the B3000. To big for 1 acre?

Welcome to the forum. With just the 1 acre you have you don't haft to have bigger but there will be times that you will wish that you had bigger. The cab would probably be a must for that much snow.

Yes, the cab is a must. It common for us to get a few weeks of -40!!! Not fun without a cab!

Curious for those who have ridden a B3000 and a B2650 for comparison

Not to be a stick in the mud, but I have never seen a B3000........seen a 3030 and 3200 but never a 3000......then again , I aint never seen them all! But as I take time to look this up ......there she is ......a CABBED B3000.

To get back to the question at hand ......the L series is a serious tractor, I would say that it IS TOO big for a little ol 1 acre.......there is something to be said about tooooo big. IF you had 10 acres and needed to move hay bales and what not.......I would would say - get er done! My B and BX will get into places that the cabbed L will never get in, but then again the L will almost pick up the B !!

The tier 4's scare the hell out of me, and it will be a while before they get it right, and not that it is a problem, I would rather not jump into a "we almost got it right" situation.

I take it that you will get a FEL on either machine? IF so - will a 4' bucket that will pick up about 600 lbs be enough or do you need a 5 ' er that will get closer to the 1000 lb mark?

As for the quiet cab, I cannot answer - never been in either running! But I would think that the sound would be somewhat the same.

AS for HST , I am one of those that have shifted my gears, and still drive my 16 year old 5 speed.......but on both of my KUBOTA's I have HST ,and freakin love it , set the rpms.....push a little , go a little, push it hard and go faster, place heal on the pedal and back up .....and the whine ...........@#$%$@@ hate it !!!! I am hoping it will get better with a fluid change to Sudt2 ......

sounds like money is not a real problem.......then buy something that YOU really want and need.

Ask you boss what the bottom line is , then price out the NEW Kubota, one of them you will need to pay off (boss) quickly and the other will need to be paid off at or near zero % for a few years.

Throw us the numbers and people that have both will chime in and tell you pros and cons of each!

I have 20 heavily wooded acres and bought a b2650 last fall. No complaints and definitely not underpowered. I run a 60 inch brush hog, box blade and grader and it pulls them all with no issues. No snowblower though.

The only issues I have had all relate to traction. I'm going to get the tires filled this spring as this should help significantly. I can't imagine that the b2650 wouldn't do everything you need on one acre. But then again, you can never have too much power!

Have a new BX25d for 3/4 acre and it has be great for all our needs, quiet, easy on fuel, lots of fun. You might want to follow the thread where owners have cabs to see the ins and outs for different kits or factory.

After building a cab for my L3200 a couple years ago I can say that it would be difficult to go back to an open tractor. The doors lift off for summer, but a factory cab with A/C would be even better. We have about 3-1/3 acres here and the size is perfect. Always plenty of tractor for the task.

I also use it at the neighbor's place which is about 1/2 acre. With the tractor and a string trimmer I can do her lawn, have a chat with her and get back home in less than 20 minutes if she isn't particularly talkative that day. Not any trouble with the size of the tractor on that property. Her lawn could be done with a 38" riding mower or even a 21" walk-behind. So the L3200 absolutely is not needed, but works very well.

WOW... this makes me thing my BX is really undersized for my 5 acres ,,,NOT ,,,,, Like the man said bigger aint always better for 1 acre a B would be plenty big, maybe to big. I don't know your plans for a home out building and so on remember you have to get around all that stuff some time or another.
I will here however remark, that what ever tractor you decide on, a snow blower , in MHO would be the way to go. For up your way and a cab would be the cats arse. Im not real sure where you are but in my travels in to the GWN you should have one.

Now for the B2650, yes I have drooled all over the one sitting in the show room at the stealers, and she is a beauty to be sure. He asked me if I was going to buy it or just drive it around the lot, I told him I wasn't sure but my arse wouldn't let go of the seat,,lol,, Now at my place I have lots of trees and a larger tractor would be nice but the trees would clean that cab right off, not a good thing!
Don't be scared of the new motors ya got 2 years of warranty on them!! Also these new motor set ups are really not much different than what is used under ground, and trust me those diesels motors are run through the ringer before they are approved for underground use.

Kind of a tough call as any answer is going to be spot on for some and not others. I love our HST+, but wouldn't pick one for one acre; my neighbor however has an L3540 with FEL and MMM which he loves.

I've looked at the B Series and really like the B26/3350, much quieter cab than the predecessor and that would be my choice for a one tractor operation. I'd personally go with the B3350HSTC running a blower, but I've never owned a B Series as we need multiple machines, so take it for what it's worth which may not be much.
