One of the biggest things that new tractor owners (including myself) failed to understand is the brakes, they are very different than say your truck or your ATV/UTV as they usually have brakes in front and rear. These tractors don't have front brakes, they only have braking in the rear, usually left and right that's why you'll see on some tractors the pedals can be split for brake steering. But when its in four wheel drive or some like to say they are called front wheel assist. When its in four wheel drive, you'll have limited braking in the front from mechanical linkage via the drive shaft to the transmission so it's important when carrying heavy loads out front to have it in four wheel drive to have that additional braking power but also if the rear comes off the ground you'll still be able to stop.....hopefully.

Like what @skeets said, they are incredible machines and can be fun to use but man they can be dangerous so it's always important to think through what you are doing and assess the risk of what could go wrong. Nobody is perfect, we all make mistakes...it's how we learn. I've made a few myself and learned from my experience but that just makes you a better operator in the end.

I hear you. Not a cheap option for sure, but in my world hard to beat when moving and cutting up logs and very useful for rocks or brush. On the bright side, you don't have to undo something to add the 3rd function and grapple. It's additive and doesn't fall into the realm of incrementalism.

I'm considering having 16-18 cords of wood delivered this summer that come in 20 ft to 30 ft lengths and will need to be cut up and split. It sure makes it easy to hold a log off the ground and cut it up as opposed to being bent over for days on end.
If I were using that amount of firewood, I would be looking for a firewood processor that automatically cuts and splits the wood. You could do processing for others around you if you wanted to make some extra money. I saw a used one that looked like new on Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago for $4500. I would have jumped on it, but for the fact that I don't burn wood any longer.
