First car was a '59 Buick I bought from my grandad. Had it repainted a metallic blue, and over the next year I put Keystone classic mags on it, new carpet and seat covers, a four barrel manifols and carb on the 401 nail head, and most important, a set of Cherry Bomb mufflers.
It also had the Dyna-Flow trans in it, remember those?

I was lucky enough to visit the De Tomaso factory, back in '90 or '91. I don't think they got many visitors, as a nice -and very goodlooking...- young lady gave me a private tour of the plant (big word, as it was just a smallish industrial building with three -3!- cars under construction). Upon leaving I was presented with brochures of all their cars and a nice De Tomaso pin.

Really sad they folded.

Well, cheating here a little, this is the 2nd car I bought in 1972. It wasn't a great car to drive but it sure looked awesome. A 1972 De Tomaso Pantera, marketed by Ford and sold through Lincoln Mercury dealers. It came with a mid engine Ford 351W and a ZF quick change transaxle.
I built a serious but streetable 351C CJ for it from the bare 4 bolt block on up. The way it was geared it was slow off the line but had a top speed over 150 (don't ask).

A friend of mine and I looked at one at a dealership one Saturday morning. My comment at the time was, "if it was a little less $$$ ($9k) I'd buy it". That night I won a car in a raffle. Took cash instead of the car and bought the Pantera.

I remember seeing a really hig priced young Lady in yellow Panteria (sp). I dont know which cost more at the time, 71 or 72. But both were real head turners !!!

69 Plymouth Fury III with a 383 V8. Man I got into a lot of trouble with that car!

73 Datsun 610 it was a bank repo in really nice shape I think it cost me 600 bucks. Economy car of the day...

'73 Jeep Commando, hardtop, 4x4, v8-304, 3 speed in the floor, drum brakes. Had 95K on it when I bought it.

1949 Chevy, paid $50. I rebuilt the 216 cu. in. engine and installed 3 single barrel carburetors. Also added a floor shift, the fad of the day.

My dad was a Sargent Major in the US Army stationed in Hawaii.
As a high school kid at a military school. I got a job picking pineapples for Dole during the summer while all my pals were out surfing and fornicating.
I saved all my money and bought a two tone Blue 1954 Dodge Royal Red Ram 2 door car, it had the Hemi V8 and automatic from a Army Officer who was headed back to the mainland for $750 big money back in 1962.
I was the first kid inn my class to have their own car.
I always got a kick out of returning back to the base where the guard at the gate would salute the white sticker on the officers car.
I sold it for more than I paid when we left.

That was my first car but since my grandad bought it for me (didn't pay for it myself) didn't mention it as my first one. Mine was fire-engine red and had mags.

One thing I remember about it was one time while using the bumper jack on the rear end, the driver's door didn't want to open.

Can't remember which car(s) I had with left-handed lugnuts. One had lugbolts instead of lugnuts and was a pain when swapping wheels.

1974 Toyota Celica GT, like this one, but in white

This was in 1981, so by the time I got it, it already had high mileage, a myriad
of issues and lotsa rust. On the upside, the engine always ran strong.

I'd give $6000CDN (or more) for one today, but they are unobtanium in my neck of the woods.

All of them are rotted away. Dust to dust.
