First Breakage

A couple of months into ownership, with 60 hours, and yesterday I noticed my first failure:



A broken o-ring on the right side FEL hydraulic rod. Found them intact on the other rods. At first I thought it was some sort of wiper designed to keep dirt out of they cylinder, but they stay at the end of the rod, and a little research indicates that there just to keep paint off the juncture. Is this correct? I'm good a worrying about nothing, but this REALLY looks like nothing to me.

Take a razor blade, and cut the other one off. Its only there to keep paint off the chrome, on the cyl rod seal wiping area...

The dealers are "supposed" to remove them when they prep/install the loader, few ever do though. They are just there to keep paint off of the wiper seals while the cylinders are being painted.
