I want to mount a fire extinguisher to my tractor (on the ROPS maybe?). Has anyone done this? Are there mounting kits? I had a guy doing skid steer work on my place today and it caught on fire. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher nearby and we frantically got it out. It would have been a disaster if I had not had one as it is crazy dry and was very windy today. I also saved a nice Cat skid steer. It got me to thinking I should have, at least a small one, mounted on my tractor just in case. Just curious if other have one mounted and how and where on the tractor? I did not get into to all the details of my experience today but I learned I WILL have a fire extinguisher on my tractor.

Just bought my first tractor a couple of days ago and have been thinking about doing the same. Either on the rops or one of the fenders. I think it's a great idea!!!

Yes. I have used this for almost four years. Not one problem with it.

Here is my fire Extinguisher solution. for M7040.
Hope to get a bigger one for Xmas

Sits on the cab Floor and it is held upright by my home made bend piece of 1" x 1/8" Aluminum.

I am going to add a piece of tube rubber to ensure there is no pressure point on the window glass.

About 10 minutes work with a vice and a hammer.

Make sure that you buy a fire extinguisher with the metal top and trigger. The plastic trigger ones will loose their charge bouncing around.

This is a good reminder thread to have extinguisher handy.

Last week I was vacuuming up leaves with the Ingersoll mower deck plus Cyclone Rake and it got dark. Turns out when you cross the driveway the suction will pull little rocks up and when they hit the blades they strike sparks.:eek:
No problem here, very wet fall, but someplace else it could be a problem for someone mowing.

Great idea mounting an extinguisher on your tractor. Every so often you will want to loosen the powder in it because it becomes compacted when mounted on a vehicle and will lose some of its effectiveness. Every month or so take it of and turn it over a few times until you hear the powder slide freely.
