This was the task this weekend - Install a fire extinguisher using a square U-bolt (I called them a channel bolt but the guy at Home Depot got REAL bent out of shape and insisted I call it a U-bolt) with bored out 1/4" black iron couplings that will allow me to attach a myriad of accessories using a piece of 3/4" thick nylon cutting board. The first phase is done as you can see here. The nylon cutting board - when milled properly - will "pop" over the couplings and hold securely.

It's like most of the jokes I tell - you really do have to stay with me till the end to get it! ;)

NOTE: The fire extinguisher ISN'T for the tractor, I have insurance for that - it's in case I catch on fire......Bah, ha, ha, ha,

I have been thinking about mounting an extinguisher. I plan to spend a lot of time out in the woods this spring/summer cutting wood and also burning wood so it would be nice to have one handy.

I live in a cold climate so I would like to find one that I can keep mounted all year long -- not sure whether all extinguishers can take severely cold environments. Is that something you though about or are you in a warm climate?

That is one of those "must do mods" in my opinion. Another alternative to using U bolts is to use the Click Bond system. Very strong, no holes, and can't be noticed how the item is mounted to the tractor. This system has been used in the aerospace industry including NASA for years. Here's a few photos of my install from two years ago. As for mounting a fire extinguisher on a tractor and used in the cold, no problem, just purchase a cover for it to keep it dry and it won't be an issue.

Thanks for your input on this Paul. I am a subscriber to your channel and forgot about that video! I am going to look into Click Bond for this and several other mod projects.
