Hereford bull with angus cow makes a great steak!

Here is some really quick information about why I just ended up getting a hereford bull vs. buying another angus/brangus(all black) bull. And the price was great too.
I have a hodge podge(not registered) group of cows. But buyers at market will buy a black with white face calf, a baldie all day long and they typically get the highest prices over any other color.

I agree with your conclusion on prices. The majority of my cows were baldies or white faces and the calves depending upon if bred by Spud (Red Angus) or Steve (Black Angus). I enjoyed the anticipation every calving season to see what we got.

A red or black baldie is probably the easiest calf to identify gene traits for meat buyers at auction and IMO I have watched the big boys(commercial/specialized buyers) at auction buy every one of those calves that came through on a couple different occasions. Excluding the black calves, I have seem several other colors or variations of calves are typically on the lower side of prices.

Found a couple of old framed prints from the farm, Steve and some of my horses. Sure wish they had digital back then.

@SierraSundance, your posts always bring fond memories to me so thank you and keep posting!

A few pics from the past. Delivery of a new JD6410 (which makes my M7060 look a bit small), some of the herd, quarter horses and paints. Miss the view, could see 7 mountain ranges from the front deck. Kind of sad how time ticks by!

Virtually no rain chances in the next 2 weeks. I'm betting that another storm will form after Milton plows through Florida. I have head pressure and pretty sure its from the Hurricane out in the gulf.

Really close to home. Gotta love thy neighbor.
Hey SS, do you have porcupines? One of the guys I worked with in Houston had a lease in west Texas. He said one time they were scouting before deer season and one came right up to him, so that he didn't have any choice but to pet it, gingerly!

There are some around, not real common. The Laundry Fairy and I spotted one about 2 months ago. It went into some heavy brush wasn't able to get any pictures. I have a good ideal where it's potential tunnel is at but you need a suit of armor to get into the brush.

We are expecting to remain dry here in S.Tx for another couple weeks.
Another Tropical system forming on the Pacific ocean side of Mexico. If I was a betting man, the moisture that carries across Mexico to the gulf/cariabbean area will help fuel the development of another storm in the next 10 days.

As the remnants of Milton goes further out in the Alantic, low pressure is already starting to form in the Caribbean. I'm hoping the next storm hits upper gulf coast in Mexico and brings lots of rain to S. Texas.

Looky there a gyre develops in the Indian Ocean today. A few more days for the atmosphere to spin around and build up with those warm water temperatures. Probably will become Hurricane Oscar.

2. Western Caribbean Sea (AL95):
Widespread showers and thunderstorms have become a little better
organized today across the northwestern Caribbean Sea in association
with a broad area of low pressure that is gradually becoming better
defined to the north of eastern Honduras. Environmental conditions
appear conducive for some additional development over the next day
or so, and a short-lived tropical depression or storm could form
before the system moves inland over Central America on Saturday.
Interests in Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico should
monitor the progress of this system, as tropical storm watches or
warnings may be required later today. Regardless of development,
locally heavy rainfall is likely across portions of Central America
and southern Mexico through the weekend.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
* Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.

Looks like North wind sheer is too much for the Tropical storm to head north. We'll I'm hoping it crosses the Yucatan and forms again in the gulf.
