That drone is probably using a spot spray technique that minimizes the amount of herbicide used. There are machines that can visually scan an area and identify the location of the individual weeds and then spray just those weeds. They are using really incredible technology.

That makes sense. Thanks for the info! Pretty impressive machine. I guess the 4 acres in 10 mins would really depend on the amount of weeds to spray then.

And I bet those herbicide chemicals your using were developed 40 to 60 years ago! Just like using newer technology in using drones, newer chemicals(2020 epa appoved) have also been developed. It's important for us(farm, ranch, land owners) to attend AG events like the one I attended yesterday.

Envu and Corteva(DuraCor) have herbicides that only take a couple ounces per tank of water.

I don't have an applicators license to buy those chemicals.

I buy Triclopyr 4(non cancerous herbicide lol) herbicide in a case, 2 x 2.5gallon jugs, runs about $260 for the 5 gallons. I mix a quart per 15 gallons, a very strong mix for fence lines. Keep in mind, the plants, cactuses, brush, trees are complete bad asses to live in an environment down here. Triclopyr 4 is stronger and cheaper than Remedy.

The entire 4 acres was sprayed.
The drone can be programed to target specific areas, especially areas where tractors can't go.

The same company that sells the drones also has company that does applications.

So there is a lot of factors, targeted plants/trees or general field spraying, spray rate ratios etc.

The guy said $20 acre or $350 hour
On average it can cover 25 to 28 acres an hour with return refills on the tank, based on spraying herbicide/water 2.5 gallons per acre on a grass pasture. Chemicals provided by customer.

Good deal. So it's relatively a newer herbicide, ~2005. But it appears to have some of cancer causing chemicals in the ingredients.

Very informative, cause it can save you money, as you know these chemicals aren't cheap. The calibration should be done yearly and after cleaning the screens/replacing tips/or changing tips out for different spray degree nozzles.

Seems like most things now days comes with a may cause cancer warning. Simple precautions and common sense limits risks. Using a mask, long sleeve cloths and shower afterwards are helpful. A cabbed tractor is good as well.

I went to go check on cows, and I was about to pet my bull, except it wasnt my bull. They were in the shade and I didn't even notice the visting bull didn't have a white mark on his face. Well that was a oh shit moment, lol. The visiting bull didn't seem to aggressive, so that's a plus.

I'm reluctant to say my Johnson is much larger and of better apparent construction.
