FEL not responding

Need some advice, I changed all the fluids and filters on my L345DT today. I cleaned the filter screen and replaced it on the trans/hydrau. I fired it up and lifted the box blade and then the bucket. When I started to back up the FEL started dropping and didn't stop until it rested on the ground. It now will not respond.

Sounds like air in the hydraulic system. Crack open some fittings and get the juice flowing again.

It is going to be messy, and when I say crack I mean crack the fittings. You'll have fluid shooting across your yard and soaking down the neighbors!

How long did you let it run? I have seen some tractors take 10 - 15 minutes for the hyd system to work after changing the fluid and filters. The hyd system should bleed the air out just by working your controls in most cases.

I did let it run for quite awhile. I moved the controls up and down and could hear a noise like it was pulling down on the system but the FEL never responded. I am going back up to the farm this weekend and try the advice you all have given. Thanks again

I do not know the model of the loader or the loader control you have on your machine. If it is common two lever control of that era, you can try cracking open the pressure relief valve there. I had a very similar problem with my L235/1200FEL. Does the 3-point hitch lift work? You can also check the relief valve there. My loader was only going down, after I bled the loader valve it was back like new.

The three point does lift up and down. I was told it is running off a different system. The FEL has a reservoir mounted on the right side of the loader and there are two controls that move up and down. There are two main lines that run from the reservoir to the front of the tractor to the pump.

This is what doew not make since to me because I thought the loader ran from its own system seperate. The only drains I did was in the transmission, rear end, both rear wheel hubs and empty the inline mesh screen filter on the right side. So I was not sure how it would affect the other unless they are connected.

Another thing was the fluid I removed was milky in color and when I looked inside the FEL Reservoir what was there was not.

I did replace the filter up by the controls. it is mounted vertical. If I did not fill that filter full before screwing it back on is that enough of a space to cause an air pocket in the system?

Any time you break into the hyd system whether it's changing the filter or even replacing a line it will allow some air to get in the system.

It's been awhile but just wanted to give closure to this story. I eventually gave up on waiting for the mechanic that was going to hep me look at it and started tearing into it myself. What I found was directly under the cross member support for the radiator is a double row chain that married the sprocket from the engine to the sprocket from the hydraulic pump had snapped in two
