I have a new to me 2015 Kubota MX5800 with LA1065 front loader. It has 3rd function and the quick couplers for it are seeping out the end. As I was raising a shoot house up (900lbs approximately) in about 20 or 30 seconds at 2k rpms it tilts down and continues to do so. So my question is with the couplers dripping is that allowing it to bleed off that fast or do I need to test cylinders for repack or god forbid a valve replacement? TIA

I am not clear what is leaking down. Sounds like you are describing the bucket dumping which has nothing to do with the third function. Help me out a little.

@zeke1 Are you saying that there is a hydraulic leak in the couplers for the 3rd function and you believe that leak is affecting the bucket?
Is the 3rd function on the bucket or not related to the bucket at all??

I think he is saying the 3rd function couplers are not connected and are leaking.

I think the bucket is connected normally and is leaking down. Given the age probably piston seals.

Yes the bucket is connected regularly. The 3rd function connectors are not plugged up to anything on bucket end and are leaking, the bucket is dumping and I wanted to know if the leaking 3rd function would cause it dump faster because of loss of pressure they only leak when the fel is under load, does this make sense

Yes it makes complete sense.

The leaking 3rd function couplers are a separate problem and have nothing to do with the drifting bucket.

Most likely cause of the bucket drift is leaking piston seals. Here is a very simple test for that. Locate the quick coupler that feeds the base end of the bucket cylinders. Disconnec just that one coupler. Now start the tractor, raise engine speed to mid throttle and move the joystick to the curl position and hold it there. If the piston seals are leaking the bucket will slowly start to dump. The bigger the leak the faster the bucket will dump. If the bucket does not move the seals are not leaking.

Thank you, I appreciate the response. I will try that. I know with tractor running at 2k rpms with a load it dumps fast. So I will test it. Thanks

If you've changed the connections/reconnected them, I'd verify everything is connected correctly. It doesn't sound like it to me.

Also, check your fluid level.

Read what I told you to do carefully. You disconnect the base end coupler and try to curl not dump.

Yes sir I know what you said I was merely making a statement about how bad it was dumping. I understand the disconnecting and testing. Thank you

I have not changed or connected anything, it had 3rd function on it when I purchased it. I am going to repair the couplers to stop the dripping hydraulic fluid.
