I’m starting to have intermittent issues with the control valve for my 525 loader. Moving the arms down from an elevated sometimes now wants to continue downward travel when the lever is moved back to the nutural position. It also now feels stiff when moving the lever up and down.
can the valve body be rebuilt?

Valve body can not be rebuilt but your problem might be in the Detent End Cap. You may have dirt in there... You can remove it but be careful, there a spring and 4 balls in there that likes to take flight! (I have not done it myself but seen other posts about it....) "F" below...

The answer is no and you are jumping way ahead. Start by checking operation of the joystick linkages. Kubota joysticks are well known for failures.

I’ve already checked that. Im also wondering if weather might be an issue. Although the tractor had been warmed up adequately, the weather here was below freezing while this was occurring.

Have you verified the boom spool is actually returning to neutral? Its the only thing blocking return flow from the cylinders.
