Assuming an operator who is experienced and no equipment defects, I am curious how smooth (or not) the raising and lowering action is of a FEL and backhoe on an L3940.

Can't answer for your specific machine, I can however say the L48TLB is as good if not better than the Deere 710. I have a few hours on many Deere machines and loved the 48 and how it operated,, In the future I hope to get an M59.

I have both for my L 3000 and they both work as smooth as any. I guess the best answer I could offer you without the exact circumstances you are thinking about is this. The Kubota loaders and backhoes are going to be as smooth as the operator. Anybody can crank a machine up but it take a operator to get a machine to reach it's maximum potential. I was a heavy equipment operator for the last 18 yrs. Part of that time was spent as a member of a support group that travelled from quarry to quarry. We took on special projects that either the employees didn't have time to do themselves or didn't have the skills to do. I worked all over Ga, Tn and Ala and good operators are few and far between. I worked with a lot that thought they were operators but if I was the boss most of them wouldn't have worked for me.

L3940 CAB with LA724 loader and BH92

I have a 09 L3940 cab HST with BH92 back hoe and LA724 loader. I've got 350 on the meter, and have generally been pleased with tractor. The BH92 has had some issues with the o-rings in the main valves on the BH. Dealer says it's due to a rear remote they connected to a front grapple bucket (pressure surges from the grapple remote, blowing o-rings in the backhoe). They haven't offered a solution yet, other than disconnecting the backhoe (hydraulic lines) when I use the front grapple. That is not convenient as I use both often in the same day. I will make a another post once I have a solution and/or costs to fix. Of the 3940, loader and BH, the back hoe is very strong. Controls (and obviously o-rings) seem to have a design issue.... Hope that helps.
