FedEx has lost my EA Grapple......

or temporarily misplaced it, anyway.

EA's 55" Root Rake Grapple was shipped on March 31st. Three days later it was in St. Paul, MN. and looking good for a fast delivery time to Grand Forks, ND which is about 300 miles further northwest.

But then it took a wrong turn and a day or two later (via tracking) it showed up in Harrison, Arkansas. There's been no updates since. :eek: I alerted Everything Attachments via an email. The next day I received a response from Travis who was having their FedEx rep look into it. If they can't find it by early next week another will be shipped out right away. It's still too wet to use here but would be nice if it showed up. We'll see what happens. Hard to figure out how FedEx could lose something so big.

I'm sure the freight companies have been having their issues with all the things going on during this Covid-19 situation.

Major kudos to Everything Attachments, Travis, and their customer service!!

I hate “grappling” with Fed-Ex. Those guys are such a success-story... in their own minds.
Out here in the boonies of central Tx.... they NEVER get things to me as promised. I don’t mean “occasionally”...I don’t mean every once in a while... I mean NEVER.
In 30+ years here, they’ve left things on the country road, they’ve delivered to each-and-every ranch but mine, they’ve delivered it on Monday...when they were paid EXTRA to deliver it on Saturday (and when that complaint is made, they claim they don’t make rural deliveries on Saturday...but they still charge for it and do not refund the charge! (Grrr)
They’ve left negotiable letters on the county-road a whole mile away from my gate, they’ve tossed them over the fence onto the ground...even when it was raining! And the gate was OPEN! They’ve left it under a bush 50 yards from my front door...even after driving onto the ranch all the way to where my address is shown on GoogleEarth... and THEN driven on soft ground to turn around in my yard and BACK OUT TO THE BUSH where they dropped it.

UPS—-?? Always on time. Always to my door. Always.

USPS—? Yep. Just fine. No problem there either.

But Fed-Ex? I am so tired of them, and wish all shippers would simply allow the customer to select the delivery company.

FedEx uses a lot of independent contractors for their deliveries. That leaves a lot of quality differences in their delivery. Around here, depending on which contractor is showing up, the package can be neatly, and courteously left on the porch or just heaved out the truck door.

I like USPS next day guaranteed myself. I've shipped a couple items like that and they have 100 percent failed to deliver next day so I get money back. No wonder the Post office looses money, if you cannot perform, don't offer the service in the first place.

Far as FedEx is concerned, it has to do with ship cost. UPS is far and away more expensive than FedEx for the same item and weight. UPS is union (teamsters) and FedEx is non union. Union contracts cause UPS to have to charge appreciably more to remain solvent.

FedEx does use independent contractors. Have a good friend that has 54 trucks on with them. FedEx has never been an issue here.

If you really want to have poor service, try DHL. It will never show up. DHL... Dumb and hopelessly lost...[emoji107]

fedex is not "all-non union", it has unionized employees, many of them. The price depends on the product and the market, has nothing to do with unionization.

back on topic, im bummed Birds grapple is lost :( i really cant wait to see this project come full circle. Im shocked fedex was used to ship something so heavy and not a freight company. EA will make it right.

Not quite correct, the hub employees are as well as some of the local drivers, however all the road drivers are contract workers, working for sub contract owner oerators as well as some but not every local delivery drivers, depending on how the local distrbution hub is set up

Far as the grapple goes, it will show up sometime....[emoji16]

Is the complete opposite for our business. Our UPS rate is 2/3 of what FedEx charges for the same exact box. Add in the fact that UPS has simple to use software that prints the label for me, whereas FedEx forces us to go online and then print the label on regular paper and use an envelope to adhere it to the box.....and charges you for pickup requests....

I'll stick with shipping UPS unless our select few customers demand FedEx (really only Cummins since they make the engines for FedEx trucks).

Someone coded it wrong or the shipping barcode was mis-read. Eventually, it will get someplace that determines the address does not exist where it is and will sort it out. Sort of like one of those stuffed animal adventures that travels all over the world to get home.

I had FedEx smart ship do that before. Had a part leave Ohio. Arrived in Jackson Mississippi a day or so later. Then the part hung a left and went on vacation in Tampa Fl for a week. Then returned to Jackson Mississippi. Then on over to my place.

Some crazy comments here and too funny! :D

Hopefully they'll track it down after Easter and get it back on its northerly route again. I'd hate to see EA have to send out another just because someone on the FedEx end was careless, or worse yet, unscrupulous with other ideas in mind.

If worse comes to worse, I know EA will promptly make good on the product. Fingers crossed and will post the full travel itinerary when it's finally reached its destination. :)

Well there are two good(ish) possible outcomes here

First and foremost the issue gets resolved and the grapple arrives no problem. Second they send out a second one, FedEx then realizes their mistake and gets the first back on track and you end up with two grapples. EA may give you a return shipping label but I assume at the cost of freight they will probably just claim it on their insurance and tell you to give the second one to a buddy. It sucks when shipping issues happen but it is always nice when they happen when you don't critically need the item at least.

I had a winch rope replacement that was guaranteed delivered on Saturday once and I needed it installed by Sunday (last minute decision to have it replaced) so someone could take it home to a different state on Sunday and the rope didn't arrive until the following Friday! Needless to say I had to make a special drive to get the replacement installed. That's $100 and a weekend I'll never see again.

Union contracts don’t necessarily cause higher fees.... but it does give working people decent wages and benefits and is good for families and benefits communities ....and UPS does do a better job... pure and simple....
When Fed-Ex fails... the resultant cost of goods is exorbitant.

Unions... the people who brought you weekends and benefits, even if YOU aren’t a union-member.

ROFLMAO - Unions have never "given" anything. All they do it take, They do not produce anything and they do not benefit any companies. They hardly even benefit employees anymore.

When kids were worked in the old days, unions had some use. Today all they do is suck about 20% out of the middle of a companies production.

Looking at the participation decline around the country, most people agree.

The government will be the last to be shackled by unions (not a surprise) they need the most protection from working.

Out here, Fed and UPS do a great job and leave the packages by my garage door or if small enough on the porch. USPS, well if you need it quickly, don't use USPS. I hate that smart ship stuff Fed and UPS do with USPS. It gets to USPS in a day and then takes them another 7-10 to decide to deliver. Most of the time they send it to Mansfield which is a few hours north of me, because West Mansfield has to be the west of Mansfield. You think they would look at the Zip code seeing they designed it. Usually pings around there for three or four days, goes back to Columbus for a couple more then out to my local office. I'd gladly pay an extra couple bucks to get Fed or UPS to handle the entire process internally.

I'm thinking of ordering a 4' disc harrow from EA and had wondered who the freight carrier would be.
