So I bought a used 2012 m100. Hood was faded which didn’t worry me at the time since I’ve refurbished a few machines over the years with plastics on them. But nothing works on this freakin hood. It does not absorb anything whatsoever compared to the rear fenders to bring the darker orange colour back.
I've tried compound linseed oil wax Floetrol etc. As I said no change in colour whatsoever. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks in advance

strip it down to bare metal and repaint ?
He said it was a plastic hood!

So paint the plastic or see if a ”wrap” would work. Not sure what happens to put a wrap onto anything, so it might just peel off if it is scratched severely

I’m thinking painting is the only way to go. Just don’t like painting plastic

Does the Kubota paint from the dealer resist fading any better than the original? How about Rustoleum 2X?

No experience with plastic tractor hoods, but the following is what a pro automotive detailer and I would use to revive plastic.
First, try to remove the oxidized layer with an automotive paint compound using a random orbital polisher.
If that does not work, use fine sandpaper with an orbital sander or RO polisher. Once you remove the oxidized layer, then go to step one to remove most of the scratch marks from the sandpaper.

Finally, polish the revived plastic with a plastic polish to make it shine. Suggested compounds below:

actually he said .... Hood was faded which didn’t worry me at the time since I’ve refurbished a few machines over the years with plastics on them.

you ASSUMED that hood is plastic, I prefer to be TOLD what it's made from as some machines came with either steel or plastic.
In any event ,using several grades of GOOD automotive 'rubbing compound' should bring back the shine. The 'trick' is to use several grades, say 400,800, 1000, 1500, 2000.

if you decide to paint, find out WHAT kine of 'plastic' it is, properly prep and then paint. using a 2 stage automotive paint + clear coat will give you a mirror finish.

That's the problem with this plastic. It's different than any plastic I've ever seen. I have the hood off and will post some pics tomorrow.
