I have an 87 Kubota F2000 mower that started making a strange noise recently. I cannot pinpoint the location. It started as a low clunking sound that was would get faster as the engine rpms increased but not in sequence with the engine. That was a couple weeks ago - now it has progressed this whining metal grinding sound.

I have checked all fluids, everything is full - nothing leaking. Please check out the video and let me know if you have an idea of what the issue is. Thanks.

Sounds like it may be a bearing going bad check everything that the engine fan belt drives. For example alternator/ dynamo, idler pully and fan. Any bearing play would indicate a bad bearing or grittiness when you turn it by hand.

take the belt off of the generator. While you're at it take the belt off of the fan, just take it off if you can. Spin the generator by hand. Real tight? Bearings going bad--they are rebuildable. Spin the fan. Real tight? Water pump going south-and it's also rebuildable though I always just replace them. If both are ok, start the engine with the belt off. Noise gone? Good-that means it won't be all that expensive. Still noisy? You'll have to start digging. Could be anything from a hydraulic pump failing to a clutch throwout bearing whatever.
