i recently purchased a used low time BX2350. this is my first experience with a 4WD sub compact. i have an area on one side of my property that NEVER dries. i almost gave up completely on mowing it. my previous tractor was a '48 farmall cub. while im not going to say anything bad about the legendary cub, its a row crop tractor with narrow tires. not really the best for mowing wet areas. i put my BX2350 in 4WD i cannot believe that i could mow a swamp, literally. the grass was tall and the ground was basically under water. the Bx2350 barely broke a sweat, what a little beast. not to mention all of that torque and power and fuel consumption is surprisingly little. i have mowed my 1-1/2 acres twice and the fuel gauge still reads full. i take the fuel cap off and look, its not down much. that was after putting it threw the paces mowing that wet swamp.

im not really a fan of the plastic hood and side panels but everything else. this was a well built machine. the deck is no lightweight, and with the way i keep it clean it should last forever. everytime after i mow i drive the tractor up on ramps and hose ALL of the grass from underneath. i never allow it to build up. if you never let it dry, the grass falls right off. no pressure washer needed.

i dont know why anyone would want a zero turn. a sub compact offers versatility, much lower fuel consumption, and much greater durability. i guess people like to give that all up to save 5 minutes cutting grass.

do you guys mow in 2wd or 4wd. i only use 4WD if going into known wet areas and before shifting into 4wd i bring the tractor to a complete stop.

BX23S, I mow in 4wd %99 of the time. Lots of slopes and steep hills. Its mostly to prevent my rear R4 tires from spinning and rutting the lawn.

I prefer to mow with the loader and backhoe off. Much more nimble.

Im not sure if you can swap the plastic body parts for metal? Like from the 60 Series? The plastic was a short lived idea....

i bought a BX2350 because i got the tractor, a very lightly used 54" mower deck, a 46" meteor snowblower, and a heated curtis cab for $8,500. the tractor has also be well maintained by the dealer, the original owner bought it new there and the same dealer sold me the machine used. the hours on the tractor 395 hours when i bought it, should be many many hours in this machine, probably thousands of hours. no, im not a fan of plastic anything.

i asked the dealer if i can replace the plastic junk with metal body parts. their answer is no, can anyone confirm or deny that?
