What is the cost OF extending that warranty?
How many hours on your machine? Most problems will occur typically in the first couple of months of use. After that - if it is working, it will continue to work.
I would take that warranty money .......... stick it in the sock drawer, and IF something happens in the future you will have a little bit to offset the cost of fixing the machine.

At that point warranty is just insurance. On a BX1880 there's not a lot that would go wrong, and most of what would go wrong wouldn't be likely to cost more than a couple of grand. If a 2% chance of costing a couple of grand would be a big problem for you, extend the warranty. If a 2% chance of costing a couple of grand is something you could cover, and the cost of the warranty is more than a couple hundred dollars, I think you're better taking the risk.
Getting any type of agreement is certainly such a personal decision, but having managed a business unit that conducted the support delivery side, we were seeing costs per revenue dollar of only 30-40 cents for almost all of them —about $20M/year. The point being they’re not offering these agreements as a public service-they are making significant profit margin even after paying all the parts, labor, and employee benefits. (my wife always hated my reply to the cashier at Best Buy in the checkout line, asking if I wanted to add the extended whatever)

Yes, if your intent is to put the money where no one will look for it put it in white freezer paper marked "heart" or "chicken gizzards", and store in the back of the freezer!

We toss a bit of cash from every paycheck into a high yield savings. Then use part of it for vacation funds. There is always several thou left for unexpected repairs to stuff. I'd rather pay me to use my money.
My BX, just the stock warranty, if something is wrong, you'll discover it in the first 50 hours. Good dealer prep.
The only failure I've had was a bad weld on an add on bucket part from Kubota. Kubota had no interest in the failure. Local guy welded it for $30.00
Ten years of ownership. Only build issue was a wire to the glow plugs was loose. So I tightened it.

I have bought one extended warranty in my life and it was in 1980 Cummins had just started the Recon program on their engines and I had just lost a main bearing on a engine in a truck. I was a young man with lots of borrowed money. I bought the extra warranty to take it up to five years or five hundred thousand miles. Back then the extra was only another five hundred dollars that I didn't have at the time, borrowed it too. At four hundred thousand the engine had a piston blow apart. I had done all the warranty requirements along the way and Cummins put another Recon in the truck and the bill was around fifteen thousand and there was zero out of pocket on it. I have never bought another extended warranty since.

Obviously a personal choice, but I almost never buy "extended warranties".

Personally I bought my Kubota partly/mostly due to its legendary reliability, hence no need for extended warranties.
But I consider myself fairly "handy" and would not shy away from a major repair if needed. So I suppose that needs to be factored into the equation.
Overall, my vote is "No"

Called my dealer today. $400 for one year, $700 for 2 years. Have a month to decide before I lose my option. May go with one year, hope for the best afterwards. Thanks for all the replies.
I've owned Kubota tractors for the last nine years (close to 1,000 hours of use) and the only issues I've ever had that involved the local dealer or anyone else for that matter was the block heater in the BX25 which was my fault, and a damaged Heim joint on the end of the top link on the first MX. The dealer gave me a replacement block heater that I swapped out myself, and a replacement heim joint (upgrade) that I welded on myself and no issues over the last 400 hours of use.
I'd put that $400 towards maintenance and not help the local dealer pay their rent.

Years ago we were buying a new Honda CRV for my wife at a dealer that we had dealt with before, all with no financing involved. When doing the paperwork, they tried to up-sell an extended warranty and said "well what if the engine or transmission fails after the 3 year 36,000"? My reply was "if you have that little confidence that this will last any longer than that perhaps we should go down the street and buy a Rav4 at the Toyota dealer". That ended any up-sell discussions.
21 years and about 1500 or maybe 1600 hours on my BX2200, and about 23 years on my B2910 with about 1700 hours (RPM based hours). Never an issue I couldn’t handle myself for a few bucks (And not many of them).

Oh... I forgot... tie rod boots failed (tore/cracked), a known weak point. Dealer sent me replacements after the warranty but they were the same same as was stock, so I got the upgraded ones (Ebay???)
I did replace the fan belt, it was a little loose and I run a winch (4700 Warn) sometimes and I over loaded it a bit, causing excessive wear Drawing 200 amps on a machine with a what, 40 amp alternator puts load on stuff. Expected wear item.
So, I'm in for $50 worth of parts in ten years...
