Military wheeled vehicles haven’t seen Detroit engines in a decade. All wheeled vehicles larger than a HMMWV use CAT engines, C15-C7.
Care to post a link. Not true. Caterpillar has not made a roadable power plant for installation in any wheeled vehicle in about 10 years, ever since they failed to meet the tier 4 interem standard with their 'after burn furnace. The don't offer engines for military vehicles. All DDEC and some Cummins ISX but 95%DDEC. I believe Cat can be special ordered but they are rare. My wife never apprved any wheeled vehicles with Cat engines when she was stationed at TACCOM Warren, Michigan

Caterpillar engines are not the norm, only an exception.

“All DDEC and some Cummins ISX but 95%DDEC.”

Again the military hasn’t used a Detroit Diesel Electronically Controlled engine since the M984A2, all models of this variant were decommissioned due to the MEL being 0%, 10 years ago. The A4 models ( most recent ) has Caterpillar engines.

The Cummins was last used in the M900 series 5ton variant, which was decommissioned due to the MEL being 0%, 15 years ago. Replace with a new platform, M1078-M1273. The A1 through present model A1P2 all have Caterpillar engines.

“Current production FMTV A1P2s are powered by a 2007 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emissions compliant 7.2-liter six-cylinder Caterpillar C7 diesel engine developing 275 hp and 860 Lb.-Ft. torque in LMTV variants and 330 hp and 860 Lb-Ft.torque in MTV variants.[1][3] FMTV A1Rs have a 2004 EPA emissions compliant version of the same engine with the same power output. FMTV A1 variants have an earlier 1998 EPAemissions compliant version of this engine, the 3126 ATAAC which developed 275 hp at 2400 rpm and 815 Lb.-Ft.torque at 1600 rpm in LMTV variants and 330 hp and 850 Lb.-Ft.torque in MTV variants. A 6.6-liter derivative of this engine, the 3116 ATAAC, was fitted to FMTV A0 models where it developed 225 hp and 735 Lb.-Ft. torque in LMTV variants, and 290 hp at 2600 rpm and 860 Lb.-Ft. torque in MTV variants.[20]

The Allison 3070 SP seven-speed transmission[1] fitted to A1P2 and A1R FMTVs has also evolved with the FMTV, its A1 designation being MD 3070 PT, its A0 designation being MD-D7. This has an integral single-speed transfer case. All-wheel drive is full-time, with a 30/70 per cent front/rear torque split for on-road driving, and a 50/50 per cent split for off-road driving.”

And another:

“A Detroit Diesel 8V92TA V-8 two-stroke diesel developing 445 hp (332 kW) is fitted in HEMTT A0 and A1 models, with the DDECIV version of this engine fitted to A2 HEMTTs. An EPA 2004 compliant Caterpillar (CAT) C-15 six-cylinder, 15.2-liter diesel developing a peak of 515 hp (384 kW) is fitted to HEMTT A4 models. HEMTT A0 and A1 models are fitted with an Allison HT 740D 4F/1R automatic transmission, torque converter, and Oshkosh 55,000-pound (25,000 kg) two-speed transfer case. HEMTT A2 models have the Allison HD 4560P 6F/1R automatic transmission. HEMTT A4 models are fitted with an Allison 4500SP 5F/1R automatic transmission and an uprated version of Oshkosh's 55,000-pound (25,000 kg) two-speed transfer case.[3][4]

The front axles on all HEMTTs are single-reduction Oshkosh 46K, the rear are Dana single-reduction which vary according to configuration. Drive to the front axles is selectable and all axles have differential locks. Suspensionon A0/A1/A3 models is by Hendrickson leaf springs with equalizing beams. Suspension on A4 models is Holland air suspension, load rating on the rear axles varying by configuration. Tire size is 1600 R20 on all models, and standard tire fit is Michelin XZL.[4]

“Current PLS A1 variants are powered by a Caterpillar C-15 four-stroke diesel developing 600 hp, this coupled to an Allison 4500SP six-speed automatic transmission, and Oshkosh 36000 Series two-speed transfer case.[2]The original PLS was powered by a Detroit Diesel 8V92TA V-8 two-stroke diesel developing 500 hp, with later production examples having the electronically-controlled DDECIV version of this engine. Original PLS were fitted with an Allison CLT-755 ATEC 5F/1R automatic transmission and Oshkosh 55000 two-speed transfer box. After October 2005, an Allison HD-4500 Generation 4 six-speed automatic transmission was fitted.[3]

Bud... Detroit Diesel quit producing 2 strokes at least a decade ago. They are all overhead cam 4 stroke inline 6's and have been for a very long time.

Not here to kibbitz with you over spellings either. Go buy a tractor and quit trolling.

He is not trolling. He is a retired soldier that knows his business. I assume by his handle that he is a retired Master Sergeant. That military grade is the subject matter expert. If he says it is so, IT IS SO.
