Hello all. I have a 2016 L3901, 196 hours, has worked fine. Error code is P0093, "major fuel leak" but there are no leaks. Changed fuel filter, water bowl is fine with no water, disconnected the battery to try to reset, but still has error code. Am I missing something? Prior to changing fuel filter, ran fine for one hour, warning light came on and it shut itself off. Started fine this morning, but error code still there. Thank you!

This is a SWAG......what about the RETURN line to the tank????? I have heard that if that is pinched or blocked, bad things happen? Not sure if that applies, but worth a shot

According to diagnostic code table, P0093 is described as a fuel leak in the high pressure common rail part of the system, and is detected by the difference of fuel pressure before and after the injection. So the error code comes on when the pressure deviates from expected by more than 20MPa. Seems like the sensor might also be screwed up

Given your tractor is still under warranty, and it is in this part of the fuel supply line where computer controlled parameters are involved, I would recommend that you involve your dealer rather than poking around. Not meaning to cast doubt on your mechanical skills, but things could get expensive really fast if you make a mistake.

For sure get a parts diagram for the 3901 and a shop manual.

I am still learning about the engines with the DTC computer controller.

Without having the actual code reader, how do you know if you have one DTC or several all related to the same problem?

In other words, how do you know DTC P0093 is the only code?

That is a really good question Dave! The L 60 series have the ability to print out more information on the screen than the 01s do, and also have a test mode that will check voltages across some of the sensors. I don't know about the 3901, I can check for manual.

Fortunately I have never seen an error code on mine. :D

Seems like a couple people writing in with problems listed more than one code, so probably the tractor can make a list?

Thanks to all for the info. I "cleared" the error code (after finding the process online) and now running fine. Wondering if too much water in the bowl may have triggered this error or a dirty fuel filter. If the error code of "major leak" is triggered by not enough fuel, thereby the unit thinking there must be a leak, perhaps this was the issue. Once code was cleared, worked for about two hours with no performance issues and no codes.
Nonetheless, two months left on warranty so I'll take the advise of including the dealer in this issue.
BTW, this is a great site and I've been here many times on numerous issues. Thanks again.

I had the same code on L47TLB. Changing the fuel filter as advised here solved it for me.

My theory is that the computer was commanding X fuel at high throttle but was detecting that less than X was actually burned. Thus leak. However it’s actually that the plugged filter delivered less than X.

Hour meter readout shows the error code. If more than one it shows one for X seconds, then the next and so on. Displays them in a loop until cleared.

You cleared it from the meter panel's memory but it's still stored in the ECU.

Very likely a fuel filter restriction issue-have run into it many times. Other dealers have been known to replace the fuel rail which is a job in itself, but personally I like to do the easy stuff first-- ESPECIALLY if it's out of warranty. I say this because the rail pressure sensor is part of the fuel rail according to Kubota, so you have to get the entire fuel rail assembly, seems like it's kinda expensive too as I recall.
