Most efficient use of materials with respect to square feet is usually square. However, most of the sheds in this area are built rectangular. I suppose the trusses are easier to work with. Most in this area are steel sided pole barn type with steel roofs.
My larger shed that was on the property when I bought it is 24x48. It has a tall sliding door on one short side with a garage door on the other side and man door on the closest wall. It also has a standard garaged door on the opposite end of the tall door. Access from both ends has worked well. I pull in my tractor through the tall door. Since my property is mostly sloped, I had my excavating company clear space around it before we moved here, so I can drive around the building and/or park on either side if required.
It's nice to have materials under cover with plenty of room to work, so do consider larger than you think you need. Finally, lighting as well as power for running tools etc is also helpful, so do consider running power and/or using solar+batteries+inverter to provide lights and some power even if just to charge portable tools that use battery chargers.
