Hey all, I have 2014 MX5800 and the engine warning light comes on and tractor shuts off. I raised the hood and found a "nest" on top of valve cover. No codes yet, tractor will start may run 5 minutes may run 45 seconds light comes on kills engine. I'm "guessing" they have chewed a wire but not finding anything. Tractor is full of oil, coolant and radiator is clean. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Without codes and without any "interactions" to help lead the way, your stuck with look at every place on the tractor for anything that doesn't look right!

If you suspect a wiring problem, I would suggest trying the "wiggle method" to try and locate the problem.

It's cheap and fast.

Just start it and begin "wiggling wires" until it stalls, then try to duplicate it a few times if you find a "suspect area"

Only works about 2% of the time, but like I said it's cheap and relatively easy, and I have had it work out once or twice on cars.

(Just watch out for spinning things when working on a running engine...obviously)

I believe rats chewed something and since its the engine warning light maybe oil pressure or coolant temp is only thing I can think that would shut it down with the light. If it gives any codes I will post em

Other than the nest on top of valve cover near "firewall" there is absolutely no signs of damage. I pulled air filter its new, I serviced it less than a month ago an it has 10 hrs on it since thwn. I removed hood and side covers and have found no damge. But for past year it has ran perfectly no issues. If it had codes or wiring chewed that I can see I could understand. I may remove dash as well

This is a computer controlled Tractor, ANY wire or sensor anywhere can cause it to trip a warning light.

I don't have a WSM available but the Operator Manual only mentions overheating or an ECU fault giving your problem. Seems to me an ECU fault would set a fault code so I'd concentrate on coolant temperature.

Does the coolant gauge work?
Are there separate sensors for the gauge and ECU input?

I'm not for sure if they are separate sensors I have a WSM at home....4 hours away. Yes all gauges work, and the ecm is right behind firewall low so Im going to check wiring there as well.

Update tractor set overnight and it ran perfect for 40ish minutes then light came on and tractor shut off, and now it will start run 30 seconds to 3 minutes and shut off with warning light.
It has to be coolant or oil pressure possibly wiring on dpf side, in my brain anyway. Just odd to me.

You need a Kubota scan tool and someone that knows how to use it. I suggest you book a trip to your dealer.
