I am working on my L2850 and I have many little issues I am working out. I do have a question about the "Kubota timer 31351-31410".
Can anyone give me a rundown on what to look for in a failing timer?
Also can anyone confirm the physical location of the timer?

It's on the shutter plate (fire wall).
The timer is only used for shut down.
It times the shut down (fuel solenoid cut off) to activate for about 5 seconds.

Do you have the WSM (AKA Service Manual)?
If not ask and I'll help you out.

Is the explanation just for an L2850 or are you speaking in general?
I do not have a WSM, if you can share one I would appreciate it. All I have a general tractor book that I find rather general and not much help.

Kubota uses several methods to stop the engine.
But on this and a few other series of engines they used a stop timer to get it done.
WSM on the way to you.

If it turns out to be defective after diagnosis, read this to save some money.
